Are the Whitsundays worth visiting?

The Whitsundays: turquoise blue water, white beaches, bright sunshine, warm temperatures, stunning reefs of the Great Barrier Reef and breath-taking views of nature. The Whitsundays are the paradise off the east coast of Queensland and a must seen for everyone who travels to Australia.

So yes, the Whitsundays are worth visiting. Every dollar you invest in this trip is worth spending, because for me no place in Australia is as beautiful as this one.

But what can you do on the Whitsundays?

You can explore the place Airlie Beach

The small town of Airlie Beach is also called the gateway to the Whitsundays. And if you’re already here, you can spend a little time exploring Airlie Beach before your Whitsundays tour. Here you can go shopping in the many cute shops, swim in the lagoon or take a walk under palm trees along the ocean.

You can lie on the deck of a ship and sail into the sunset

You can only get to the Whitsundays by boat. A boat trip lasting several days is definitely worth it, because you can not only slide into sleep with a gentle swing, but also sit on the deck with your crew during the day, sunbathing and enjoying the view over the sea with a delicious drink or snack.
In the evening you can even watch the sea creatures in the sea, which then come very close to the boat.

You can meet new people

Because it’s hard to reach the Whitsundays without an escorted tour (unless you own your own boat), you’ll be able to make new friends in the few hours you spend with your crew on the boat.

You can go snorkelling in the Great Barrier Reef

On board the boat you can slip into your diving equipment, which you will receive free of charge on site. From the boat, you can jump right into the clear blue water and dive right into the world’s largest coral reef and explore its beauty. If you are lucky you will meet a turtle or also a little shark

Great Barrier Reef
You can enjoy the view from numerous Lookout Points

On the Whitsundays, there are plenty of lookout points from which you can admire the views of the island. Probably the most famous Lookout Point is the Hill Inlet Lookout Point, where the Whithaven Beach is right at your feet. You won’t be able to get enough of this sight and it’s hard to say goodbye to this place.

Whitsundays
You can relax at Chalkies Beach

White sand and clear blue water is waiting for you at Chalkies Beach, not far from Whitehaven Beach. Here you can relax in the white sand or swim in the warm water in bright sunshine. For me this beach with the perfect blue colour of the water is one of the most beautiful beaches I will ever see.

Whitsundays
You can walk through paradise

If you make your way from Chalkies Beach to a nearby Lookout Point, you’ll have breathtaking views over the clear blue water, the island’s nature and Chalkies Beach. The picture of this view will remain in your memory forever.

Whitsundays
And of course you can explore Whitehaven Beach

White sand, bright blue skies and warm water: all this welcomes you at Whitehaven Beach. If you keep your eyes open, you can even spot a shark in the water.
And if you want to escape the many tourists and enjoy the beauty of the beach in peace, then go on a search for a secret bay. You will find it when you walk a short stretch along the beach and then cross a small piece of forest.
