On my first day in my host family, the oldest of my children I care of during my stay in Sydney had his 5th birthday.

The whole family and all his friends from kindergarten were invited. This was a good opportunity to get to know everybody. Everyone in the family is totally warm and kind and really happy that I am here. Even though I saw them all for the first time two days ago, it feels like I’ve known them all for much longer.

At the boy’s birthday party there were of course lots of tasty cakes, muffins and hot dogs. There was also a jumping castle and lots of presents.  It was really nice to see how happy he was about everything.

It was a very exhausting but also a really nice first day.

I went to bed early, of course, because I was still totally tired from my jet lag.
